Story
With over twelve years of experience mentoring, investing in, and scaling startups, Macarena is a General Partner at Driven, where she focuses on helping founders scale across the Americas’ largest markets—Mexico, Brazil, and the United States. She previously led ChileGlobal Ventures’ Accelerator to become the No. 1 accelerator in Chile, backing over 100 early-stage startups and overseeing four successful exits, that include Uplanner and Zyght (acquired by Datamine). Before that, she was an early employee of Mercado Pago, Latin America's leading payments platform, contributing to go-to-market and business development strategies. Macarena was also a late co-founder of a consulting firm that supported more than 4,000 small and medium businesses in Latin America, helping them navigate digital transformation and growth. Recognized as a Top Women Investor by the Latin American Venture Capital Association (LAVCA) in 2022, 2023, and 2024, she is committed to promoting women’s participation in venture capital through networks like WeInvest and Global Women in VC. Macarena is also a co-author of “Latinas in VC: Women Investors Guide”, which celebrates the contributions of pioneering Latina investors in early-stage funding. Outside of work, she’s a proud mom of a lively 3-year-old and a dedicated field hockey player who has represented her country in South American (Uruguay, 2008) and Pan American championships (Mexico, 2008).
